Nagyon jó levegősséget és hangulatot ad 2 Era 20-zal

Launched in October 2022, the Sub Mini complements the range of Sonos subwoofers with a reduced format and a more accessible positioning. This cylindrical model integrates two 15 cm woofers capable of reaching down to 25 Hz, and integrates wirelessly into the Californian brand’s multiroom audio ecosystem. Designed for small to medium-sized rooms, it is primarily intended for owners of Beam soundbars or Ray, as well as One, One SL, Era 100 or IKEA SYMFONISK speakers.
The Sub Mini adopts a cylindrical silhouette of 30.5 cm in height and 23 cm in diameter, with a contained weight of 6.35 kg. This shape contrasts with traditional rectangular subwoofers and with the Sonos Sub 4, which is more imposing and square (40.2 cm per side, 11.79 kg).
The central oblong opening passes through the subwoofer from side to side to facilitate the air movement necessary for producing low frequencies. By leaning slightly, you can see the two speaker membranes facing each other inside.
The matte finish, available in black or white, allows the Sub Mini to visually fade into the room. The only constraint: the subwoofer must be positioned vertically, as its cylindrical geometry prohibits any horizontal installation or sliding under furniture.
The Sub Mini uses a technical principle already employed in its big brother: two 15 cm woofers mounted in opposition. These speakers face each other inside the subwoofer, creating a force cancellation effect. When one woofer pushes air forward, the other makes the same movement in the opposite direction. The mechanical forces compensate each other, eliminating parasitic vibrations that could generate buzzing or distortions.
Each woofer has its own Class D digital amplifier, specifically calibrated for the acoustic design of the subwoofer. The subwoofer is hermetically sealed, without a vent, which limits distortions and improves bass precision.
Advanced digital signal processing (DSP) intervenes to maximize low-frequency response and compensate for physical limitations related to the reduced size. In practice, the subwoofer delivers convincing physical sensations on explosions and punchy bass, even if it rarely tickles the announced 25 Hz.
Installation is carried out in a few steps via the Sonos app. Once plugged in, the subwoofer is automatically detected and pairs with the chosen speaker or soundbar. Equalization is done automatically: the system adapts the crossover to ensure a smooth transition between the bass handled by the subwoofer and the midrange handled by the main speaker. This task distribution also improves overall performance: relieved of low frequencies, the soundbar can concentrate its resources on midrange and treble.
For iOS users, Trueplay takes calibration a step further. This technology analyzes the room’s acoustics by emitting test sounds captured by the iPhone or iPad microphone. The algorithm identifies reflections, resonances, and weak points, then automatically adjusts the equalization of the Sub Mini and the associated speaker to compensate for these defects.
Manual settings remain accessible via the app: bass level independent of the general volume, Loudness function (which boosts bass and treble at low volume), or equalization adjustment.
The Sub Mini integrates exclusively into the Sonos ecosystem operating with the S2 app. It cannot connect to equipment from other brands, but guarantees perfect compatibility with Beam, Beam Gen 2, Ray, Arc and Arc Ultra soundbars, as well as with One, One SL, Era 100, Era 300 and SYMFONISK speakers.
The connection is established via Wi-Fi 5 GHz (or 2.4 GHz), ensuring a stable connection without perceptible latency. An Ethernet port is also present for a wired connection to the router.
Notable difference from the Sub 4: the Sub Mini cannot be paired with a second subwoofer. The high-end model allows the addition of one or two other Subs to increase acoustic pressure, but the Sub Mini must remain alone in its zone. However, it is possible to multiply subwoofers in different rooms, with each Sub Mini being associated with its own group of speakers.
The Sub 4, launched in 2024, measures 40.2 x 38.9 cm and weighs 11.79 kg. It integrates two elliptical woofers of 12.7 x 20.3 cm, a more powerful processor and 50% reduced standby consumption. It can be positioned upright or lying down, offering more flexibility.
At moderate volume, the Sub Mini behaves very similarly to the Sub 4 in terms of firmness and precision. It’s at high volume and in large rooms that the gap widens: the Sub 4 has more power reserve. Some users even find the Sub Mini more musical for listening in medium-sized spaces.
The Sub Mini is suitable for rooms under 25 m² and compact configurations. For a home cinema with Arc or Arc Ultra in a large living room, the Sub 4 remains more suitable.
No. Unlike the Sub Gen 3 which allows the pairing of multiple subwoofers, the Sub Mini can only be associated with a single speaker or soundbar per zone. Sonos regularly receives requests to activate this function, but synchronizing two subwoofers in the same space poses complex technical challenges. It remains possible to install multiple Sub Minis in different rooms, each being linked to its own group of speakers.
The Sub Mini connects to Sonos products compatible with the S2 app: Beam, Beam Gen 2, Ray, Arc and Arc Ultra soundbars; One, One SL, Era 100 and Era 300 speakers; as well as IKEA SYMFONISK speakers. It is not compatible with older products operating only under the S1 app (Connect, Port, or the first generations of Play).
Automatic calibration activates as soon as the subwoofer is connected. It adjusts the basic equalization and distributes frequencies between the Sub Mini and the associated speaker. Trueplay goes further by analyzing the actual acoustics of the room using the microphone of an iOS device. It identifies reflections, resonances and acoustic defects, then finely adapts the sound to compensate for these characteristics. Trueplay is not essential, but it significantly improves the final rendering, especially in complex or highly reverberant spaces.
The Sub Mini works as well for music as for home cinema. Several users even find it more balanced and musical than the Sub Gen 3 in stereo configurations (two One or Era 100 speakers). For music listening in a medium-sized room, the Sub Mini brings depth and body without dominating the rest of the spectrum, allowing the speakers to focus on midrange and treble. The result is a more expansive and nuanced soundstage.
Sonos recommends the Sub Mini for small to medium-sized rooms, generally up to 20-25 m². Beyond that, or for very high listening volumes, the Sub Gen 4 offers more power reserve. However, several users report good results with the Sub Mini in medium-sized spaces, even paired with an Arc soundbar, provided they are not seeking very high acoustic pressure levels. The placement of the subwoofer also influences its effectiveness: positioned in a corner, it benefits from the reinforcement of walls to amplify the bass.

Elégedett vagyok ezzel a befektetéssel, a Beam 2 soundbarommal és a 2 Era 100-zal együtt. Öröm így filmet nézni a tévében.
